What is Mechanical Traction?
Mechanical traction is a form of therapy to decrease pain and decrease pressure off nerve compression in the spine.
Benefits of spinal traction include:
Increase space between joints
Manage herniated disc by reduce protrusions of nuclear disc material
Stretch soft tissue: like muscles, tendons, ligaments, and discs
Mobilize joints. Which improves the movement between spine segments.
These effects can reduce the pain associated with spinal dysfunction. It may also decrease pain by stimulating sensory mechanoreceptors that transmit pain signals to the brain.
